Have a terrific December 25th

I hope the 25th of December is a terrific day for you, my dear readers.

Whether you are celebrating Christmas and the birth of Jesus Christ...
Or Osiris, Attis, Mithra and Dionysus or any other God born on December 25th.

If you have a feast for Rickey Henderson on his birthday or just having some kick butt Chinese food and will go see War Horse.

No matter what the reason, have a great December 25th. I'll be writing new posts starting tomorrow.

I hope everyone's December 25th is terrific

I will say Merry Christmas to all of my readers.

I will also say Happy Holidays.

And if either one of those statements offend you, then that is a YOU problem.

No matter what your religion is, or no matter if you even follow a religion, I hope your December 25th is filled with joy, happiness or at least some kick ass Chinese Food.

A few years ago, I suggested we celebrate the birth of Rickey Henderson on December 25th. It's a great event that people of all faiths can agree on.

I stand by that.

Have a wonderful day.
I know I will.

There used to be an order to the Universe

With the Oscars right around the corner, I am finding myself cramming for the big show.

I still haven't seen Benjamin Button but I will before the ceremony.

But I have a problem with the Oscars being scheduled where they are now... in February.
They used to be in late March, early April.

And thus there was a perfect order in the Universe for everything I obsess over.

Follow me.

The new year begins in January and most of the Oscar nominees and hopefuls are released around Christmas time.
I would spend January seeing most of the obvious Oscar hopefuls.

In February the nominations would come out and I would spend February and March seeing the other nominees.

Then the show would be on in late March, early April.

A week or so after the Oscars end, the baseball season would start.
And then I'd go into the season obsessing until the end of October.

Then it would be Christmas time where I would try to get the best gifts without breaking the bank...
And during Christmas the best Oscar contenders would be released.

Lather.
Rinse.
Repeat.

Well now with the Oscars a month earlier, I have less time to see the movies! And now that I'm a dad, I need MORE time!

And with the ceremony over before March, I'll have more than a month before the season starts.
It's screwing up my equilibrium.

I'm not joking. My obsessions can't take a month off!
What am I supposed to do in March?

It's Rickey Henderson's Birthday!

I wish everyone a Happy December 25…

I tend to say “Merry Christmas” but some people find that offensive.

I could say “Happy Holidays” but then a whole other group will find THAT offensive.

I have little patience for anyone who would take offense to EITHER greeting, but at Sully Baseball we look to find peace and harmony.

So let’s all agree that on December 25 it is OK to say “Happy Rickey Henderson’s Birthday!”

Rickey was pretty awesome
, will probably be elected to the Hall of Fame in a few weeks and with how he was kicked around at the end of his career, chances are he played a game or two for YOUR team.

So to all of my readers and friends out there in the strange internet world, let me say “Happy Rickey Henderson’s Birthday.”

And may you, like Rickey, become the Greatest… of all time!
