Another Cleveland fan post... I don't care WHAT my cousin says!

The NBA finals are about to start and the Indians are up 3-0 against the defending AL Champion Rangers.

I am telling you Cleveland fans... STAY WITH THE INDIANS!

Be like THESE fans who are watching a POSITIVE sporting event and not moping around saying "Ohhhh woe is us. We don't have LeBron. We are awful." Boo hoo hoo.

The best team in baseball is playing in your backyard. Go support him.

Now I know this post pissed someone off.

Not my dear readers or any Cleveland fans who are stumbling across this blog.

No, I know I am getting under the skin of my cousin Dave.
Dave reads my blog daily. I know that because he writes me little comments, e mails and text messages.

And lo and behold he has written to me saying I am talking about Cleveland and their fans too much.

For that I say "I am not talking about them ENOUGH!"

There will be only 6 more NBA games this year. (Chances are it will be fewer than that... the Heat are going to win and win big.) And I only have a few more chances to talk Cleveland fans off of the ledge.

It is my DUTY!

I assure you Dave that I will write more about the wonderful situation that is the Mets soon... but for now... yup, I am going to do it again. I am going to link the Cleveland fan video AGAIN!

Just try and stop me.

Hope and Change in Queens

I got an e mail today from my cousin Dave, who is a huge Mets fan.
The subject was "HOPE."

Now Dave is a lifelong Republican, so I doubt it was an Obama e mail.

Nope, his e mail simply said "Ike Davis, 1st ML AB, base hit.
Hope."

The Mets are FINALLY taking my advice and going with young kids.
I'm not saying Ike Davis is the new Albert Pujols... but the idea of a young kid coming up and getting a hit has got my Met fan friends (and family) more excited than the Jason Bay signing.

And it will be a memorable first day at the office for Ike.

He gets a pie in his face the first day and the first uniform number he wore was #42

Hope indeed.

Honoring my Grandfather on the Bonnie Hunt Show

The great host (and Cub fan) Bonnie Hunt gave me a chance to give my Grandfather, David J. Sullivan Sr, his due on national TV.

I never got to meet my grandpa, but I have always been proud of him.

A Request from my Cousin Dave

I've mentioned my Cousin Dave before.

He's a huge Mets fan and a loyal reader of this blog.

I bet he is reading this sentence right now.

We were having one of our many e mail exchanges recently and I told him I was watching the 1973 World Series highlight film. (My brother Ted got me the World Series film collection for Christmas... a great present!)

Dave wrote me in an e mail that he wanted me to find a picture of Willie Mays complaining to the umpire after the controversial out call on Bud Harrleson in extra innings of Game 2.

And he was quite specific.

"Find a photo of that on the internet and email it to me. And not with him holding the batting helmet, I want the hands palm up to the heavens....."

And Lord help me I looked.

And I couldn't find one.

I found all sorts of strange stuff, including THIS, but no picture of Willie Mays, batting helmet off, palms up to the heaven from Game 2 of the 1973 World Series.

And it is up to Sully Baseball to solve this issue!

So I took my camera...

And then used the incredibly high tech process of pointing the camera at my computer screen. I just happened to have the 1973 World Series DVD still in my computer... and I snapped a few pictures.

Hey, this method worked on my 1979 World Series entry including the amazing shot of Don Stanhouse.

Then again, I was taking pictures of my HD TV... but that is nitpicking.

So, as per your request Dave, are pictures of Willie Mays, palms to Heaven, protesting the call at home plate.

And for the rest of the planet Earth, you now have these pictures on the internet, courtesty of your pal Sully.

Turn the game off, Dave

My cousin Dave is one of my most loyal readers... and often I take his suggestions for a topic or two for the blog.

He is a loyal and dedicated Mets fan. He remembers 1969, 1973 and would remind me of 1986.

He's the real deal when it comes to Mets fans.

It's been a rough year for Dave and he admits that the only worthwhile event at CitiField in its first season has been the Paul McCartney concert. He's a Beatles fan too... although more of a George guy. (There's little chance of George playing a concert this year. But then again with all of the Hinduism that he practiced, if anyone can come back to do a concert, it would be George!)

As I am wrapping up work here, I looked over onto my Yahoo Sports ticker. The Mets were down 8-0 in the second inning.

Dave, I really hope you aren't watching the game. Turn it off. Go to your wife and two beautiful children. Watch the sun set over the Connecticut sky.

It set on the Mets long ago this season.

And if you MUST watch something... then LITERALLY watch Something
