Can the Nationals go 11-3 the rest of the way?

OK, it isn't the thrilling pennant race to save the season... BUT it could be a big stepping stone for the Nationals.

11-3 would mean the Nationals would have a winning record.
After losing over 100 games in 2008 and 2009 and coughing up 93 losses last year, a winning year THIS year would be a giant first step for the franchise.

It would be the franchise's first winning season since they were the 2003 Expos.
It would be the city of Washington's first winning baseball season since the Ted Williams managed 1969 Senators.

And with a core of young players like Wilson Ramos and Ryan Zimmerman and pitchers like John Lannan, Jordan Zimmermann, Drew Storen and Tyler Clippard they might be piecing together decent team.

And oh yeah. If Stephen Strasburg is totally back from his Tommy John surgery and Bryce Harper hits as advertised, this team could be making strides to be the first playoff team in DC history since 1933.

Step one though... put a winning team on the field.
And they can do that THIS year by going 11-3.

And I'm rooting for them.

It's Official! There are NO advanced scouts for the Yankees!

How can they have an advance scouting department?

It is impossible!

3 of their last 4 games they have been stymied by pitchers they have never seen.

The immortal Fernando Nieve… the guy who couldn’t keep a spot on the last place Houston Astros… making his first start since 2006… throws 6 2/3 innings of 4 hit ball in Yankee Stadium for the win.

The legendary Shairon Martis of the historically terrible Washington Nationals… who entered Yankee Stadium with a 5.04 ERA… throws 6 solid innings letting up 1 earned run.

And now future Hall of Famer John Lannan… who came into Yankee Stadium with a 1-5 road record in 2009 with a 6.30 ERA… and pitched into the 9th inning, finishing with 8 1/3 innings, 4 hits, 1 walks and 2 earned runs for the win.

If the rain lets up today, someone named Craig Stammen will pitch against the Yankees this afternoon.

He is currently 0-2 with a 5.86 ERA in 5 career games.

He'll probably throw a perfect game.

Seriously, nobody can look me in the eye and say “Yes there are advanced scouts doing their job for the Yankees.”

There might be guys with expense accounts going to the games, but I they aren’t paying attention.

How do I get that job?

I’d love to be paid to fly to games and then do nothing to help the Yankees!
